Although Nadeah was physically a long-period comet, its influence on Martian civilization transcended its astronomical nature. Historians, philosophers, artists, and political leaders increasingly came to describe Nadeah as a pseudopersona—an entity without consciousness that nevertheless shaped human decisions, cultures, ambitions, and destinies as profoundly as any individual.

Within the historical record, Nadeah refers to the celestial object.

The Seduction refers to humanity’s relationship with it.

Nadeah was not remarkable simply because it was a comet. It became remarkable because humanity chose to meet it halfway.

For most of its existence, Nadeah traveled silently through the outer reaches of the Solar System, completing an orbit so long that generations rose and fell between appearances. Its existence remained unknown until its trajectory brought it once again toward the inner planets.

When it was finally discovered, it arrived carrying something Mars desperately needed:

Nadeah was discovered in 2102 by exobiologist Layia Chandra while analyzing observations collected by the TAU (Uranus Ring Telescope Array). The comet’s immense orbital period explains why it escaped detection for so long. Automated systems had recorded subtle anomalies within the data, but no algorithm had been specifically trained to recognize the significance of what it was seeing.

Layia did. Her discovery revealed that Nadeah would pass extraordinarily close to Mars. Close enough to transform a dream into a proposal. And a proposal into a mission.

For the first time in history, humanity seriously considered redirecting a comet. This became the backbone of the Comet Surfer Series.


4. The Object and the Dream

Most comets had always been viewed as visitors. Nadeah became something else. The moment its water reserves were quantified, discussions emerged throughout Mars regarding planetary engineering on a scale previously reserved for science fiction.

  • Could a moon become a reservoir?

  • Could an atmosphere become a world?

It referred to what the comet revealed about humanity.


6. Infrastructure Built Upon a Dream

Humanity transformed Nadeah into one of the most ambitious engineering projects ever attempted.

Major structures included:

Gravity Belt

A circumferential anchoring zone established near the comet’s equator. The Gravity Belt distributed mechanical loads and stabilized large-scale construction efforts across an otherwise unstable surface.


NEXUS Ring

A superconducting ring surrounding the nucleus.

The system served multiple functions:

  • Structural reinforcement
  • Force distribution
  • Energy transmission
  • Sail anchoring
  • Ion accelerator support

The ring transformed Nadeah from a natural object into a navigable structure.


Ion Accelerator Arrays

Rather than carrying conventional propellant, these systems captured and redirected charged particles naturally escaping from the comet. However, the Array requires enormous amounts of electrical energy to generate and sustain the fields used to gradually alter Nadeah’s trajectory. To provide this power, the crew deployed four modular Very High Temperature Reactors (VHTRs) along the comet’s equatorial gravity belt.

Positioned at approximately 90-degree intervals around the circumference of Nadeah, these reactor complexes provide redundancy, resilience, and balanced power distribution throughout the propulsion network. Each reactor uses advanced TRISO fuel composed of thorium and enriched uranium particles, allowing long-duration operation with exceptional reliability in the harsh environment of deep space.

The thermal energy produced by the reactors is converted into electricity through high-efficiency Stirling generators and distributed through the gravity belt to the accelerator stations. Part of the recovered heat is also used to support the Habitation and Control Modules that house crew members during installation and maintenance activities.

Together, the four VHTR power units transform the Ion Accelerator Array from an ambitious concept into a practical planetary-engineering system capable of moving an entire comet across the Solar System.
